Met Gala Punk Party

The METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART Hosts
PUNK: Chaos to Couture

Celebrities were out in droves last night and wearing some over the top fashions by top designers such as; Riccardo Tisci (Givenchy), Giles Deacon, and of course the reigning punk queen...Vivian Westwood.

There were some definite winners including; SJP in Giles Deacon with a Phillip Treacy mohawk head piece. Oh SJP! Christina Ricci in Vivian Westwood pulled of a stunning plaid voluminous dress with ease. Miranda Kerr look uber chic in a black cutaway Michael Kors dress finished with shocking red lips. My personal favourite was model Cara Delevingne
who looked divine in a plunging Burberry dress with studded sleeves.

On the other hand there were some very questionable ensembles regardless of the theme; Kim Kardashian on the arm of her man Kanye looked like she pulled the floral drapes off the windows and rolled herself up in them before she left the house...oh wait there were also matching gloves so in most pictures she appeared to have no hands. Tres chic? I think not. Next would be Nicole Richie who's style I generally endorse but in this case her sprayed white...and I mean white...hairstyle made her look 100 years old. Finally, Madonna definitely got the theme right however...Madonna...you are 50+ maybe its time to let the short shorts go even if you have better legs then almost anyone I know. Just saying.

Overall the MET seemed to produce a fabulous gala that infused a fun theme into the evening, allowing attendees to play with their style and not take it too seriously. Which can be refreshing to see in the fashion world.

Here Comes the Sun

Here Comes the Sun

The sun is out and shining bright! So bright it's time to wear shades...happy happy happy!

There are a million sunglasses out there to choose from so where to begin? There are the classics, the trend and the sport options. Below are a few tips while choosing your pair.

Consider your face shape; is it heart shaped, round, triangular or oval?

Heart shaped faces should aim to add additional width on the bottom of the sunglasses to balance out the top of your face.
Round faces should aim for a medium size frame as to not overpower the face.
Triangular faces should aim for a top heavy frame to balance out the wider bottom portion of the face.
Oval faces are the lucky ones, pretty much any frame will work.

Keep in mind to have fun with selecting sunglasses by trying a neon frame or for longevity invest in a Ray Ban as they never go out of style.

Happy sunning everyone!

The Sneaker That Suits You

More and more men seem to be incorporating sneakers into their everyday wardrobes these days. Which is easily doable now that big designers are firmly on board with the trend as well, not just the iconic kicks. There are options available at every price point with styles that straddle the line between sporty and slick.

Pairing sneakers with a suit is a move we love and a great way to reinvent a suit you already own. But you do need to tread carefully. Consider the following:

• stick with no-frills sneakers in muted colors—black, gray, white, etc.
• this isn't a conventional nine- to-five look. So go with a slim suit  or a loose-and-easy one.  Not just your basic business suit.
• low-tops only please. High-tops are for rapers and serious fashion junkies.
