Pantone's color of the year for 2014 is:
A strong vibrant magenta (pink/purple) this bright bold colour pairs surprising well across the spring palette with the soft pastels and adds confidence when paired with the other bold colors.
The Spring 2014 women's palette is inspired by blooming flowers, travels abroad and strong, confidant women. There are three adaptable pastels on one end of the palette. Pair any of these versatile pastels with a brighter hue for a fresh and fashion forward look. Sand and Paloma are the mid palette neutrals; sand pairs great with Hemlock and Paloma works well with pretty much any colour. Then the strong vibrant colors bring the spectrum full circle and pair unexpectedly well across the palette acting as perfect companions to the pastels and add vivacity when paired together.
For men the palette is much the same with Comfrey as a more masculine alternative to Hemlock, Purple Haze a deeper, stronger version of the violet and Magenta Purple a more robust version of orchid. Placid Blue serves as a modern alternative to the classic neutrals and pairs well with Comfrey. Accessories, including shoes, in bold colors like Freesia, Cayenne and Celosia Orange, are becoming more popular for men. We are seeing a lot of vibrant patterns in menswear, perfect for the rising temperatures to come.
