The Heart Truth Fashion Show 2014

Celebrated Canadians, top local fashion designers and survivors join forces on April 26 for Calgary’s second edition of the national campaign, The Heart Truth Fashion Show. This event, 100 per cent volunteer based with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to lifesaving research, will help spread a message to Canadian women: protect your heart health. The Heart Truth Fashion Show will once again feature Canadian celebrities from the worlds of sports, health, fitness, music and media, modeling one-of-a-kind red creations by top Canadian fashion designers to raise awareness about women’s risk for cardiovascular disease. This year, celebrities will share the spotlight with survivors of heart disease and stroke who will also be walking the runway, sharing their personal stories that highlight the need for women to make their own heart health a priority.

The Heart Truth is increasing awareness that heart disease and stroke is a leading cause of death among women in Canada. Heart disease is not just a “man’s disease”: women are more likely than men to die of a heart attack or stroke killing one in three more than all cancers combined. Women though, by putting themselves first and making incremental heart healthy lifestyle changes, can add more years to their lives and more life to their years. In fact, women can reduce their risk of heart disease and stroke by as much as 80 per cent by making healthy lifestyle changes.

Celebrity pairings with Calgary-area fashion designers generously donating their talent include:
  •   Olympian: 2014 Canadian Winter Olympic Luge team, Kim McRae in Mackenzie Jones
