Stampede Styleista's Must Haves

Well it's official! Stampede is here! There are a lot of great events to check out in Calgary this weekend, from my go to source of what's happening, Notable.ca and all the events down at the Stampede Grounds. You need to dress the part to take part in all the festivities. So I have put together a list of Stampede Must Haves for this years centennial celebrations. 

1. A great Summer Dress - the best thing is that most of us already have one of these in our closet, whether it's a floral sundress, lace baby doll or crochet sheath dress they all turn into an instant Stampede outfit with a pair of boots and a few accessories.

2. The Boots - If you have a legit pair of cowboy boots rock those for sure. If you don't pick a pair of Western inspired boots to add that country feel to any Stampede ensemble. There are a tons of styles out there right now from tall to short and cowboy to riding - you can't really go wrong.

3. Jean Jacket - This is a piece that can pretty much turn any outfit into Stampede Style. I am loving the ones that are bit cropped, hem hitting you at the top of your hip bones (this cut also makes you look extra slim - who doesn't want that...?)

4. Colored Denim - jeans have been popping up in every color over the last few years. My favorites for Stampede are red, cobalt blue and I am also loving all the pastels that are so in right now -like these mint colored jeans. Pair them with a plaid shirt and you're good to go.

5. Cross Body Bag - this is a must have for all of your Stampede essentials since you are most likely hitting a pancake breakfast, then touring the grounds and then taking in a concert or having a few bevies at Cowboys. Stampede is an ALL DAY event and you will need a great bag for your personal items. A native inspired leather fringe bag is a great look for the bohemian stampede Styleista or you could go with a more structured satchel for a polished look.

6. Leather Belt - The right belt added to your Stampede duds gives it an instant Western flair. Perfect for belting your summer dress. Go for a braided style, warn in leather or a big buckle for that cowgirl bling.

7. The Vest - adding a lace, crocheted or of course, a denim vest is a great addition to your Stampede get up. Over a button up shirt, dress or tank with jeans.

8. Bracelets - take a page from the Man Repeller and rock the "Arm Party" - layer a bunch of bracelets all together on one arm. They can be all sizes, colors and materials. For Stampede I suggest rope/string styles mixed with leather.
